February – what a busy month

Paige, Jake and I are really having an interesting month. Paige was in the hospital for a sleep study last week and we learned that she is not reaching REM sleep, she also woke up over 200 times during the night because of this Paige will have her tonsils removed on February so that will mean 2 more nights in the hospital. Then on February 23, Paige will be admitted for her 8th MRI and then on February 24-25 she will have another video EEG. My birthday is the 23rd, watching my little girl being sedated is not the way a dad should have to spend his birthday, we should be running in the park or doing fun things together. But as long as she is in my arms I will be happy! Jake our little destoryer actually spent 4 days in the hospital this month because of a virus and finally I will be having surgery on my back on the 27th of February. Thankfully, Annette has not been in the hospital, she will be busy taking care of us!!!
Paige continues to have a great 2009, she has been so happy recently, crawling and playing with everything in reach. We are so hopeful that this will continue and maybe later this year we will be able to have our Paige Walks party!
Paige will also be on NJN (New Jersey Network News) the week of 2/23, and February 28 is also National Rare Disease Day. Hopefully the media will remember those in the country that continue to suffer from these mysterious diseases.
Best month in ages!

2009 has been an amazing year so far!!!!! Paige is standing better than she ever has and is very alert and always trying to interact with the things around her. For the first time in a few long time I can actually see her walking!!!!
We should be getting test results back from the NIH in February and hopefully they will shed some light on what caused Paige’s delays. She will also send a night at the Children’s Hospital of NY for her 18th or so video eeg.

January continues to be a good month for Paige. She continues to be extremely happy and alert. She trying to interact more with Jake and he really seems to enjoy it. It is beautiful to watch him kiss and hug her. Right now she is crawling on the floor playing with her today. God willing this continues and she shows even more progress.

During the last few days of 2008, we saw Paige smiling more than she had done in months, she also seems to have better control of her body and has been trying to grab anything within reach, she is also playing with toys better than we have seen since she was 10 months old. All wonderful things to see, so we begin 2009 with hope and optimism! We are also so thankful that Paige has been with us for 4 wonderful years, she is truly a inspiration! I am amazed at how hard she works and tries do things that most of us take for granted. I honestly wish that I was as strong as her.
We are waiting for numerous blood tests and we’ll continue giving Paige has much therapy as possible. My hope is that by New Years Eve 2009, Paige will have taken a few steps and said a few words. I believe this is possible and I will continue to pray because nothing is impossible for God.
We also wanted to thank our wonderful grandparents, aunts and uncles for all their support during the past few years! It’s not always easy but having them around makes life happier. Thanks to all our relatives, friends and co-workers for all their support and finally to all the amazing companies in our area that really helped make Paige’s benefit a success.

Paige and Jake had a wonderful Christmas, Santa was very good to them and the Elmo’s in our house now outnumber the people by 5 to 1. Jake loves his Elmo. Paige received so many nice today and some adorable outfits.
But the best present was just being together and having her with us. Going through this experience makes you realize that all the presents in the world are meaningless if you do not have your loved ones to share them with.
Christmas Eve

We had a wonderful Christmas Eve together, Paige finally fell asleep at 11 30, but I am not complaining because she was laying on me and I read her some Christmas stories and sang some Christmas songs to her. Tomorrow we’ll open the presents dropped off by Santa
